We are unable to prescribe controlled pain medications via a telemedicine visit. We can prescribe other pain medicines via in-person visits for individuals living in the Kansas City Metro area. Patients who require chronic pain medication will be referred to pain management.
Do you prescribe medical marijuana or other cannabis products?
No, we do not prescribe these.
Consultations
Yes, you would simply make an appointment. You do not have to leave your current Primary Care Doctor to be seen through our service.
Pricing
MelMedic is currently making relationships with most major insurance plans. Until your insurance is accepted, we will perform visits on a cash basis. We charge $67 for an initial visit to individuals with no medical insurance or those with insurance we don't currently accept.
Do you see children? Our group of Family Nurse Practitioners are trained for all age groups from newborns to seniors. For this age group we can provide care for many health concerns, however it is best for you to have a pediatrician that can give your child their required vaccinations and in-person monitoring for chronic medical conditions. Pediatric vaccinations are available at most pharmacies for children 3 years of age and older.
Oftentimes specialty referrals are a part of the medical visit. If you have a referral requirement, request this via the portal in advance of scheduling your specialty appointment. Referral requests can take up to one week to process.
Please allow 2-5 days for routine test results. If you haven’t heard from us within that time, you should check the patient portal.
If there is an abnormal result requiring urgent attention, then you will be contacted as soon as the result has been reviewed.
For a routine lab order request, please send us a message in the portal.
Please allow 48 hours to process.
Yes. If you have your own equipment please obtain your vital signs such as: weight, blood pressure, heart rate, and temperature before the visit.
Don’t worry, we will call you if there is a technical issue. We will help you determine if your device (phone, tablet or computer) is working properly for a video visit and you can perform a test video call with friends or family. Download the MelMedic Telehealth app before your visit.
Yes. We accept same day appointments. Priority for appointment availability is given to patients enrolled with one of our membership options.
If you need to be seen and do not see an appointment available,
please call (877) 942-8808
Telemedicine is being relied upon more and more, but sometimes you do need to have an in-person exam. As primary care physicians we listen to your concerns, provide education, order tests, and make referrals. With video visits we will be able to see most exam findings. But the heart, lungs and ear exams are not possible through basic video visits. In emergency cases where the exam will change the diagnosis, we recommend going to a local urgent care facility for a same day appointment.
There are devices that make the heart, lungs and ear exams possible through telemedicine. We can provide you additional details upon request.
After making an appointment online you will be sent a medical record portal invitation called “your health file” to your email address. Please open and follow the prompts to set up your medical record within 24 hours of notification that the email was sent. If you have never been seen via our service, you will receive a medical history form prompt sent to your text messages. Please fill out the form before your first visit.
At your first visit, be prepared with the names and doses of the medications that you take and your preferred pharmacy. These “intake” questions will be similar to what you experience during an in- person visit.
● Your insurance card ● Updated medication list or med bottles ● Allergies to medications ● Preferred pharmacy (name and address) ● Preferred laboratory (name and address) ● Preferred outpatient radiology service (name and address) ● Current specialist (Cardiologist, endocrinologist) (name and address) ● Prior primary care manager (name and address) for record requests.
Patients can attach medical record documents through the secure patient portal via the message system. Simply create a message and attach any files you would like in your medical record. You can also securely add documents through the office fax
877.504.8854 .
Prior to your first visit, please send the image (front and back) of your insurance card through the message system.
